Our Academics
Learning at Chrysalis High, Varthur follows the ICSE curriculum, from the early years all the way to the senior grades. Academic progress matters to us, but the starting point is always the child. Among ICSE schools in Varthur, we have come to be known for an approach that takes a simple thing seriously: that no two children learn quite the same way.
It begins with PUPA, or Prior Understanding of Pupil's Attributes. It gives teachers the chance to get to know a child's abilities, their interests, and their temperament, so that learning can be planned with a bit more care and thought. In the younger years, the two-main-teacher model adds to that, giving children the reassurance of familiar faces who know them well and stay a steady presence.
As children move up through the school, the way we teach shifts along with them. The Early Years lean into play and exploration. The Primary Years build strong concepts. The Middle Years open things up, with enquiry, discussion and the first real taste of thinking for yourself. And in the Graduating Years, the guidance grows more focused as students work towards their board examinations.
STEaM (AI Labs) pulls Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths together through practical, hands-on learning, the kind children remember. And Transition Blocks help them move from one stage to the next without those changes ever feeling like a jolt.
And every learner gets the support they need to keep moving forward. Through the Individual Support Program (ISP), teachers can give extra attention wherever it is called for, while CHAMPS and CRISP open up room for children to build skills and chase interests that reach well beyond academics.
What we are really after is this: a strong academic foundation, yes, but with curiosity, confidence and character kept right at the heart of a child's time here.
