Middle Years Programme
Around Grade VI, something changes in a child. Facts alone stop being enough. They want to argue with them, test them, actually use them for something. The Middle Years, Grades VI to VIII, are built for that exact shift. Primary school gave them the knowledge; this is where they learn what to do with it. For a school named after a chrysalis, the word for it more or less picks itself: a metamorphosis.
The work asks more of them now. A student is not meant to just nod and copy things down. They are pushed to question what they are given, weigh one idea against another, take a side and then hold it up when someone pushes back. Projects deliberately cut across subjects, so a bit of science bumps into a bit of history and the child has to make the two talk to each other. Plenty of it happens outside the classroom too. Research, group work, trips, community work. Stuff where kids actually get their hands dirty instead of learning it all from a book.
Critical Thinking
Students question information, compare different viewpoints and develop well-reasoned conclusions.
Interdisciplinary Learning
Projects connect Science, Mathematics, Languages and Social Studies to build deeper understanding.
Research & Exploration
Research assignments, field trips and hands-on activities take learning beyond textbooks and classrooms.
Communication & Leadership
Debates, presentations and Model United Nations help students find and express their voices.
Collaboration & Initiative
Group projects and community activities teach students to take responsibility, solve problems and work with others.
